G Data for Mac earned a 99.4 percent protection rate in May and 100 percent in June for AV-Test’s 0-day test, and 100 percent in both May and June for the widespread and prevalent malware test.ĪV-Comparatives said G Data blocked 100 percent of Windows malware with three false positives in its malware protection test with more than 10,000 samples in its March 2020 tests. While there isn’t much information about its Mac malware-busting chops, G Data does have a reputation when it comes to Windows malware. Once problematic files are in quarantine, you can decide whether to try and “disinfect” the files or delete them outright. We recommend changing that by going to Settings > Real Time Protection and then for both Reaction on infected files and Reaction on infected archives select Move to Quarantine from the drop down menu. Instead, it prevents the user from opening them. By default, the antivirus does not quarantine files. That brings us to another point about G Data. G Data was still capable enough to prevent those additional files from being activated even though they weren’t caught right away. We also noticed that in some cases where multiple examples of malware were present in a single folder all of the files weren’t detected during the real-time scan.
